Towns & Cities (II)

Costa Calida

Relaxing days await tourists in Costa Calida, an ideal place both in winter and summer. There are two seas on one coastline - the Mar Menor and the Mediterranean , plus remarkable cliffs, delightful shorelines of never-ending white sand, bustling seaports and wild coves with sparkling clear water.

Lorca

In 1964, Lorca was confirmed to be a historic-artistic site. Lorca is acknowledged as the “Baroque city” since it has various momentous architectural heritage of this style standing in its historic center.

The city of Lorca , from the Paleolithic period until Roman times, has a wide range of civilization and colonizers. The settlers congregated in the township of Lorca and evidence of the early settlers abounds: the grand archaeological sites, the Milaria Column from the Roman age, the Tower of Espolón and the Alfonsina Tower , among others. Also worth mentioning are the San Antonio Porch , a gate from the old walled enclosure which guarded the city, from the 10th century; the churches and convents of different ages and styles; and the palaces and stately, Baroque-style homes such as the palace of Guevara, the palace of the Counts of San Julián or the Mula ancestral home.

Aguilas

Located southeast of Spain , 103 kilometers from Murcia , the town of Aguilas is bathed by the Mediterranean sea , along 28 kilometers of lovely coastline crossed inland by high mountain ranges that create a very adventurous terrain. A noteworthy site in Aguilas that's worth a stopover is the Plaza de España gardens, heaving with rubber plants. Other interesting sites to visit are the 19 th century City Hall and the parish Church of San José , where the image of the patron saint is housed.

Aguilas is a land full of contrasts. Along its 28 kilometers of coast you'll witness the intense turquoise sea, rocky mountains and lush valleys, dotted with the allure of white sand beaches. Inland is semi-arid landscape of ochre-colored soil that contains numerous marine fossils and volcanic minerals and little vegetation. Not far to the north, the scenery changes. The imposing dark green of the pine forest give you a sense of calm and fill your nostrils with its refreshing fragrance. It must also be noted that Aguilas has two protected natural areas: the  Parque Regional Costero-Litoral de Cabo Cope-Calnegre , and the Paisaje Natural de Cuatro Calas

Having such characteristics, Aguilas is a promise, a treasure for nature lovers, avid sports enthusiasts, or visitors who simply want to leave their busy schedules behind and bask themselves in the serenity of the sea, accompanied only by the seagulls.
